The campaign was born on a bitter cold Montana night. Wind was whipping through downtown Missoula. Halogen streetlights stood sentinel again frigid temperatures. Inside an Italian restaurant, a group of friends huddled round a table adorned with a paper tablecloth. Between half-empty bottles of beer and half-full glasses of wine rested crayons. One of the revelers picked up an orange crayon and wrote ‘Robert for President!’ As it’s said, the rest is history.
